The book is fictional—but like many stories—it’s woven with emotions, feelings, reflections and personal experiences similar to my own. The poems included were written at various times throughout my life, and while I tried to stay true to the originals, some were revised slightly to fit into the story. As for the more intimate scenes—those came straight from my imagination. Bummer—but I’m sticking to that!

The story unfolds through four seasons (not twelve months), each reflecting a stage I believe is essential to the kind of love I long for: physical attraction, friendship connection, emotional chemistry, and—finally—trust and vulnerability. The other component often outside of our control—is timing. The seasons serve as a quiet metaphor, mirroring nature, for what such a connection may require—slow, sometimes unexpected, occasionally painful, but hopefully always beautiful.

No—they don’t—not really—which was intentional. I wanted readers to step into the story themselves, without being distracted by names they may associate with others they know, or even physical appearances. My version of them likely doesn’t look like yours—and that’s part of the beauty.

In one sense, it took my whole life because of the experiences woven in. In another, the writing itself only took about six weeks. It’s not a long book and it really did come together relatively quickly. What surprised me most was how much work remained after I “finished writing” the book itself. The revisions, editing, artwork, and countless other details of publishing took far more time and work than I expected who knew fonts, spacing and margins could cause so much inner turmoil? However, I am grateful for what I learned in every part of the process.

Everyone… spread the word! Just kidding. I believe Seasons of Intimacy is for anyone who believes in true connections—physical, emotional, spiritual—second chances, and the patience—often difficult—that true love may require. If you like stories that are slow, soft, and real—with sparks along the way—this one may speak to you.

I hope so—I’m a man and I wrote it! Kidding aside, while the story may appeal to readers who enjoy emotional or romantic fiction, it really was written with universal themes in mind: vulnerability, growth, connection, and trust—from both perspectives. I hope it resonates with readers of all backgrounds—but ultimately, that’s for each reader to decide. Let me know what you think!

I have a few ideas—so I guess anything is possible. It would depend on several things, the biggest being my desire to revisit my love for these characters, their story—and their love for each other—and explore where their journey might take them. If readers want more, I’d love to hear where you think their journey should go—that might just help provide the spark needed. After all, love stories rarely end; they just keep unfolding. (Unless Netflix calls—then things may move a bit quicker.)

I have a few other projects in the works—which are not similar—but new ideas seem to arrive when I least expect them. This particular story surprised me and I’m always open to that happening again. While I never force creative writing—I will always welcome when the desire or inspiration hits me—yes, including the intimate scenes (which are much more fun to write than proofread—seriously, Jason. Awkward).

By reading, sharing, and showing up—which you already have by being here—thank you! If the story moved you, I’d be honored if you left a review on Amazon or elsewhere, or recommend it to someone who might connect with it. I have learned that every bit of support makes a huge difference to independent authors… more than I ever imagined. Truly, every reader matters.
